Ethan Defends Delta Certificate

May 05, 2017

Ethan completed his Delta Certificate in Research, Teaching, and Learning at a defense presentation attended by the certificate committee and other members of the department. UW–Madison's Delta Certificate is part of the campus Delta program—affiliated with the broader Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning Network—whose mission is to enhance the development of future faculty members through three principles: teaching-as-research, learning communities, and learning-through-diversity. Ethan's defense was focused on sharing experiences in and reflections on his Delta journey, which is also highlighted in his teaching and learning portfolio.

While pursuing the certificate, Ethan completed five courses associated with either the Delta program or teaching development in addition to carrying out a teaching-as-research internship project. The project was developed with Tristan to create and measure the effectiveness of an in-class activity on multi-frequency radars in the department's Radar and Satellite Meteorology course. To increase his experience in teaching, Ethan also recently co-taught a new departmental course: Computation Methods in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.

Congratulations, Ethan!
