Julia Shates attends summer school in Norway

Julia attended the Advanced Climate Dynamics Course (ACDC) summer school in Rondane National Park in Southern Norway from 4 September to 16 September. The theme of the two-week international summer school was Dynamics of the Global Water Cycle, and it consisted of lectures, student-led discussions, and group projects on different aspects of the water cycle. The lecture and discussion topics included atmospheric dynamics, monsoons, paleo-hydroclimate and proxies, land-air-sea interactions, and challenges in modeling hydrologic changes in climate models. The group also went on day-hikes and backpacking in the national park where they learned methods in observing and interpreting geologic features from the impacts of glaciers and ice sheets.
