Anne Sophie Attends Risk Assessment Workshop
Anne Sophie recently attended a workshop titled "Risks and hazards in natural and urban environments under multiple stress factors, including climate change." The workshop was held in Riederalp, Switzerland, in front of the longest glacier (Aletsch Glacier) in Europe--over 20 kilometers long! The presentations focused on coastal, urban and mountain risk assessments.
Anne Sophie presented a new methodology for the assessment of mountain risks due to climate that was tested in the Himalayas. The project is called "Climate Change at the Third Pole: Impact on climate, agriculture and people". The last day of the workshop was dedicated to discussions on the way to go forward, future work and coordination of decisions taken. An outcome of this workshop will hopefully be a joint publication to describe the possibilities for improvement of risk assessments in natural and urban environments.
