PhD Topic: Modeling Arctic Sea Ice Using Machine Learning

MS Topic: Sea Ice Conditions Impacting the Northwest Passage (2024)

BS Major: Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (2022)

I am a graduate student in the Space Science and Engineering Center here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My research interests include tropical cyclones, arctic sea ice and energy transfer, and utilizing machine learning to model geospatial data. I received my BS (2022) and MS (2024, advised by Jeff Key and Tristan L’Ecuyer) in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and will be going through the Advancement Process for the PhD program here at UW-Madison. I am also a recipient of the 2024 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. My current research deals with sea ice loss and energy transfer in the Arctic. I also utilize machine learning to create predictive models for sea ice concentrations to assist with maritime navigation in the Arctic and through the Northwest Passage.
