Group Represented at 2019 AMS Meeting

Jan 11, 2019

Three members of the L’Ecuyer group recently attended the American Meteorological Society’s annual meeting in Phoenix, AZ from January 7-11, 2019. Andrews Dzambo, Juliet Pilewskie and Alyson Douglas each had oral presentations on Monday, Jan 7. Andrew discussed clouds and precipitation that were observed during the first two years of NASA’s ORACLES field campaign, which took place in the southeast Atlantic Ocean, and discussed a new & unique dataset that promises to help our understanding of cloud-aerosol-precipitation processes in warm clouds. Juliet, using a variety of spaceborne remote sensing instruments and products, showed how the character of convection in the Tropical Atlantic affects local radiative closure. Alyson’s research using satellite products and WALRUS derived latent heating data revealed evidence of invigoration due to precipitation suppression.
