PREFIRE launches set for May and June 2024

After a little more than 7 years of development, our PREFIRE team successfully completed final mission readiness and operations readiness reviews and were declared ready to launch our two CubeSats that will systematically map far-infrared emission from the polar regions for the first time.  Rocket Lab will launch each PREFIRE CubeSat on their Electron rocket platform.  The first launch is scheduled for mid-May and the second early June.  The team hopes to release some first looks at the PREFIRE data later this summer and hopes the far-infrared observations will stimulate many new investigations into the factors that influence polar and global climate.
